Peminat off-roading Malaysia sudah mengidam pilihan mudah dan berpatutan untuk off-road selama bertahun-tahun sekarang. 4X4 seperti Defender sekarang biasanya berharga 6 angka, Pajero, Land Cruiser dan juga Fortuner juga bukan murah. Dan satu kenderaan yang SEPATUTNYA murah untuk dibeli, Suzuki Jimny, ditawarkan dengan harga hampir RM200,000 oleh peniaga pasaran kelabu. Apa yang mereka perlukan adalah sesuatu yang asas dan tanpa warisan untuk meningkatkan nilainya.

Di sinilah Mahindra Thar serba baharu ini masuk. Sekiranya ia kelihatan seperti Jeep Wrangler kepada anda, anda tidak salah. Mahindra mempunyai hak cipta kepada Jeep pra-Wrangler CJ, tetapi ini kelihatan lebih mirip dengan TJ Wrangler. Malah bahagian dalamannya kelihatan seperti TJ Wrangler. Kami tidak 100% pasti jika ini adalah salinan berlesen atau hanya mengambil inspirasi. Kami juga tidak pasti berapa harganya, tetapi kami yakin Mahindra dapat undercut Suzuki Jimny.

Bercakap tentang Jimny, beberapa perbandingan off-road boleh dibuat di sini. Mahindra Thar mempunyai kemampuan penempaan air yang jauh lebih baik serta sudut pendekatan yang lebih baik. Oleh itu, Jimny mempunyai sudut pemecahan dan pemergian yang lebih baik.

Dari segi pilihan enjin, terdapat petrol 2.0L dan diesel turbo 2.2L yang ditawarkan, dengan manual 6-kelajuan dan automatik konvensional 6-kelajuan. Kedua-duanya menawarkan mod jarak rendah untuk merangkak batu.

Walaupun kelihatan seperti off-roader retro, terdapat beberapa sentuhan moden di sini. Unit infotainment 7″ yang bagus dengan Android Auto dan Apple Carplay tersedia dan kabinnya tahan air IP54 dan habuk. Unit infotainment mampu menampilkan maklumat seperti tekanan tayar, kompas digital, sudut pitch and roll, penunjuk gear, dan juga penunjuk sudut roda.

A first for Thar and Mahindra, the All-New Thar is powered by the 2.0L mStallion TGDi petrol engine, and by the 2.2L mHawk Diesel engine. These engines are offered with a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, with an authentic 4×4 manual shift transfer case with a low ratio.
