Syarikat Penyewaan Kereta 100 Tahun Hertz Tutup Kedai di AS

Pandemik coronavirus telah memberi tekanan besar kepada syarikat-syarikat di seluruh dunia, dan hari ini adalah yang pertama dari banyak gergasi sudah tumbang. Syarikat yang sinonim dengan industri kereta sewa itu sendiri, Hertz, akan muflis di AS.

Menurut Reuters, Hertz Global Holdings Inc telah memfailkan perlindungan Bab 11 pada hari Jumaat. Ini berlaku setelah syarikat itu gagal mendapatkan bantuan daripada Kerajaan AS dan tidak dapat membuat perjanjian dengan pemberi pinjaman terbesarnya.

Sebagai perniagaan penyewaan kereta, Hertz dan jenama saudaranya sangat bergantung pada pelancong yang masuk melalui lapangan terbang. Dengan perjalanan udara global dan domestik pada tahap terendah, syarikat itu tidak dapat menjana pendapatan semasa wabak tersebut.

Di bawah Hertz Global, Holdings Inc adalah tiga jenama, Hertz, Dollar, dan Thrifty – semuanya dalam perniagaan penyewaan kereta. Mereka telah kehilangan pembayaran pajakan sejak April, tetapi perjanjian pengecualian pajakan ini berakhir pada hari Jumaat.

Masa depan syarikat dan 38,000 pekerja global kelihatan suram. Walaupun pada tahun 2019, syarikat itu dibebani hutang US $ 18 bilion dengan kecairan US $ 1 bilion. Hertz mempunyai rangkaian lebih dari 8500 lokasi di 150 negara.
